Adele’s ‘21′ which won the Grammy for being 2012 album of the year this February, is going to spend its 22nd week at the Number #1 position on the Billboard 200 charts this coming week. Sources within the industry believe that the album sales can exceed by another 300000 within Sunday, February 26th.

This past week, the 23-year old British singer’s second album ranked at the number one spot with album sales reaching up to 730,000 after the first week of Grammy Awards.

If her album ‘21′ makes it for the 22nd week at the top of the charts, it will have the longest run at the No. 1 position. The last time anyone had this major success with an album was when Prince and the Revolution released their “Purple Rain” soundtrack back in 1984-85. The album spent 24 consecutive weeks on the No. 1 position from August 1984 to January 1985.

The latest reports of the Billboard 200 charts will be released on February 29th, Wednesday morning. Since Adele has sold more than 2 million copies of her album within last year, she is now officially the first artist ever to enjoy double platinum status on iTunes. She now also holds the record for having the longest running number 1 track ever by a female musician in the Billboard history.

The majority of the musicians choose to sell their music and reach to a wider audience through iTunes. Yet it was Adele who for the first time broke the double platinum record sales mark. The singer has already won numerous accolades, including six Grammy Awards for her album ‘21′ and had the biggest post-Grammy week sales of 730,000 album copies.

English singer-songwriter Adele has broken the records set by pioneer rock bands Pink Floyd and The Beatles as her second album titled simply ‘21,’ spent 16 weeks topping the US Billboard charts. Up until now, the Beatles album “Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” and Pink Floyd’s rock opera “The Wall” both had held the top spot by staying on the US charts for a consecutive 15 weeks.

However, this new achievement by Adele would mean that she is now holds the record for being the longest running British musician at the top of the US charts. She is now sharing the same spot with the soundtrack for the 1997 James Cameron film ‘Titanic.’

In only last week, Adele’s ‘21′ sold 104,000 copies. This takes up her global sales close to around 17 million. Considering the fact that pirated copies of music albums are nowadays easily available over the net, the 17 million mark might seem a bit hard to imagine. Surveys reveal that the singles sung by Adele are among the most popular karaoke numbers of 2011.

Recently, Adele’s mournful track ‘Someone Like You,’ has been nominated for the ‘Outstanding Song’ category at the NAACP Image Awards. According to the karaoke website Lucky Voice, the track ‘Someone Like You,’ was also the most popular karaoke song of last year with nearly one in every four singers opting for it.

For her debut album ‘19,’ Adele did a Bob Dylan cover of the song ‘Make You Feel My Love.’ The song was voted as the second most popular karaoke tracks by nearly 100,000 users. At present, this 23-year-old singer is being hailed as one of the favorites for making it big at the 2012 Brit Awards by the bookmakers. She is now a hot favorite for winning the Best Album award for her second album ‘21.’

Adele has praised both fans and critics alike with her songs. Her success story boasts of numerous accolades and she has been mentioned several times in the Guinness Book of World Records. But while the British singer’s voice has garnered rave reviews worldwide and her singing career is flying sky high, the 23-year old star’s road to romantic happiness is not one without its share of hurdles.

Adele’s new love interest Simon Konecki is 14 years senior to her. He is a former Etonian who is an entrepreneur by profession. Simon is referred to as “Swampy” by his friends and he married Clary Fisher, a fashion stylist in 2004. Simon was one of the directors of an investment holding firm called the EBS Group when he married London College of Fashion graduate Clary Fisher.

The couple socialized with glamorous and reputed figures such as multi-millionaire property tycoon Anton Bilton, the party hopping playboy son of late industrialist Lord ‘Gordy’ White and Jamie and Lucas White, sons of Rolling Stones member Ronnie Wood.

Although the couple moved to Simon’s birth place Brighton after their marriage and had their daughter, the cracks were starting to appear between them. The couple parted their ways in 2010. However, Simon and Clary are still married together and they have a young 5-year old daughter as well.

The Grammy award winning singer was introduced to Simon by Ed Sheeran a few months ago. Adele and Simon hail from completely different backgrounds. While Konecki grew up in Eton with contemporaries such as Bear Grylls and Tom Parker Bowles, the singer went to an inner city primary school in Tottenham and was brought up by a single mother.
Simon’s parents lived in a million dollar mansion in Florida and his sisters attended the posh Roedean Independent School.

When Clary Fisher was approached about Simon’s new love interest, she refused to comment. Adele’s spokesperson also refused to respond to any questions regarding Simon Konecki.
